After our first Disney Cruise where I didn’t know anything, I have figured out the BEST ways to organize our stateroom, maintain organization so I don’t hear, “Mommy! Where’s my….?”, and not overdo it on packing since we live FAR from the ports and have to fly.
Leave a comment below about your favorite “must pack” item!
- Dollar Tree Clothes Hamper – I like to have 2-3 of these. I put one near the queen size bed and another one near the kids’ beds. Laundry bags also work, but I like the handles on the Dollar Tree ones and they also have a little pocket for detergent. I also bring a few laundry detergent pods. I put them in plastic Easter eggs so they wouldn’t explode in my suitcase, but honestly any plastic container is fine.
- 4-6 port USB charger– We have 3 cell phones, an Apple Watch, a Go Pro, and a small portable speaker for beach excursions that require USB charging.
- Noise blocking items– Most of our family members are light sleepers. I pack ear plugs, a white noise machine and a fan* (see information on this below). While the majority of the staterooms are quiet, our favorite stateroom is a category 5E on the 10th floor (Fantasy and Dream). These rooms are directly below Cabana’s and have ginormous verandas. In the morning, you can hear them setting out chairs and getting ready for breakfast, but not with all the white noise going on in our stateroom!
- Reusable, Insulated drink cup– We aren’t huge pop drinkers but we do drink a ton of ice water. We send 1 person to fill up all the cups and water bottles at one time. My favorite are the Tervis brand cups for in our stateroom and we also pack CamelBak water bottles for excursions (because they seal better).
- Drink carrier– My daughter’s favorite is the Chik Fil A drink holder wrapped in duct tape for extra durability.
- Battery operated nightlight– If you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, the only option for light is turning on ALL of the lights, which feels like a laser beam piercing your eyeballs. It doesn’t have to be fancy or big, a small battery operated tealight from the Dollar Tree will do the trick.
- A seasickness “grab bag”-ginger candy chews, sea bands, bonine, dramamine, essential oil (roll on).
- Items for hanging – Magnetic hooks and clothespins , suction cup hangers for curtains and drying items in the bathroom
- Hanging organizers – I have several that I love. One is from Lands End. I use it for family toiletries like toothpaste, bugspray, sunscreen, etc… I also use a over the door shoe organizer (which I don’t hang on the door because you cannot). I zip tie it to a hanger and then hang the hanger on a hook (usually in the bathroom). I like to have 2 of these and I put the other one on the wall of the stateroom on another hook.
Stuff I love for Disney Cruising!
***Here is the direct link to “What Items are NOT allowed on the ship. On our last cruise, I brought 2 small fans (plug in). We didn’t get our luggage right away because they had gone to inspection. However, they passed inspection and we were able to cruise happily with our white noise.
***Disney Cruise Lines states,
“The following electrical appliances will be collected for inspection by the Chief Electrician and if approved, will be returned for use onboard the ship.”
- Baby Monitors
- Humidifiers
- Portable fans
- White Noise/Sleep Machine
